William W. Smith 1926-2009
William Wesley Smith, son of Arthur and Audrey Smith and brother of Mary Barbara Smith, born June 4, 1926, died at home, peacefully in his sleep, on June 15, 2009.
He leaves behind Claryce, his wife of 19 years; Kirk, his son; Christine, his daughter; Dirk, his stepson; and Sylvia, his former wife of 42 years and mother of his children.
William served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II; graduated from University of Iowa in 1949 and attended University of Iowa Law School before managing a training school for FBI agents. In his later years he was a district manager for the Coca-Cola Company.
As an avid golfer he sported 11 holes-in-one and won the El Dorado Royal Country Club Championship in 1968 saying “How sweet it is!”
He will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, his rich sense of humor and his infectious smile.
