Louis G. Wigen, Jr. 1928-2009

RUTHVEN — Funeral service for Louis G. Wigen, Jr. of Ayrshire is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Luther Thoresen will officiate.

Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Ayrshire.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 9, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Mr. Wigen died Saturday, June 5, 2009.

Louis George Wigen, Jr. was born near Ayrshire on Oct. 16, 1928, the son of Louis George and Marlis Lenore (Hanson)?Wigen. He graduated from Silver Lake Consolidated School in 1946. Louis farmed with his father before enlisting into the U.S. Air Force. He returned to Iowa to farm.

On June 26, 1960, JR and Elaine (Sears) were married at Storm Lake.

JR was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a 54 year member of American Legion Post #173, Ayrshire.

JR is survived by his wife, Elaine, children, Anna Marie (Arvin)?Enerson of Estherville and Louis George III (Angela) of Spencer; eight grandchildren; brother, Leo (Carol)?Wigen, Spencer; sisters, Peggy Wigen, McAllen, TX, LaVonne (Junior)?Bowman, Bloomington, Marlene (LeRoy) Walker, Sr., Emmetsburg, Bev Harris, Spencer and Mildred (Robert) Ewoldt, Alta; and brother-in-law, Dr. Robert (Jackie) Sears of Ohio.

JR was preceded in death by an infant brother, Neil; his parents; and brother-in-law, Emory Harris.
