Alice P. Kollasch

NORTH LIBERTY – Alice P. Kollasch, 69 of North Liberty, formerly of Arnolds Park and Whittemore, died April 20, 2009 at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 24, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whittemore, with Father Victor Ramaeker officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Whittemore with a scripture prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Alice was born Aug. 18, 1939 in Algona to Frank (Al) and Ada Smith. She graduated in 1957 from Algona High School. In 1958 she married Elvin R. Moore. Into this union was born Gary, Jeffery, William, and David Moore. They later divorced and she eventually resided in Emmetsburg.

In July 1972 she married the love of her life Glen George Kollasch of Whittemore. Into this union was born George Bailey, Sam Kollasch, and Amy Wellendorf. Her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, dancing, reading, fishing, and most importantly her friends and family. Alice also had a passion for community service where she served as head of a St. Michaels Church Circle, active in the Legion Auxiliary, Cub Scout Leader, and was a dedicated member of St. Michaels Catholic Church of Whittemore, St. Joseph’s in Milford and St. Mary’s in Solon.

Alice is survived by her children: Gary Moore of Whittemore, Jeffrey Moore of North Liberty, William (Sherry) Moore of Wichita, KS, David (Maria) Moore of Mansfield, TX, George (Charlotte) Bailey of Iowa City, Sam (Astonah) Kollasch of Waterloo, and Amy Wellendorf of Milford; her grandchildren: Ryan (Krystina) Moore of Tampa FL, Daniel (Cassandra) Moore of Wichita KS, Rebecca Moore, Alexander Bailey, Marisa Moore, Jasmine Bailey, Evan Wellendorf, and Allison Wellendorf, Alayna Kollasch, Devon Kollasch; her great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Moore, Hailey Moore, Grayce Moore.

Alice is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Violet Pergande, Roberta (Raymond) Hanson, Sandra Smith, and Eric (Carolyn) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents, Frank and Ada Smith; her brother Martin Smith and her in-laws; Fred and Gertrude Kollasch; Howard Kollasch, Msgr. Louis Kollasch, Andy Miller, and Ernst Pergande.
