Lucille M. Allen 1922-2009

Funeral service for Lucille M. Allen of Emmetsburg was Saturday, April 4, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Steve Ellerbusch officiated.

Burial was in South Walnut Cemetery, Graettinger. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at?Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was 86.

Lucille Mary Allen, daughter of James and Laura (Hardinger)?Manwarren, was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Emmetsburg. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School.

On Feb. 20, 1943, Lucille and Dayton Victor Allen were married in Nebraska City, NE. Lucille was employed at Mileham’s Hatchery and later went to work for Berkley’s in Emmetsburg. Lucille became a nurse’s aide and did Home Health Care for Palo Alto County Hospital.

Lucille was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Church Circle. She was also a volunteer at Lakeside Lutheran Home for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Richard)?Girres of West Bend; six grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Orville (Nettie)?Manwarren and John (June)?Manwarren, of Emmetsburg; and four sisters, Evelyn Moran of Emmetsburg, Marie Stoulil of West Bend, Virginia (Don)?Steil of Fairbanks, and Joanne Nichols of Emmetsburg.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Pam O’Brien; son-in-law, William O’Brien; three brothers, Robert, Eugene and Frank Manwarren; and a sister, Loretta Poland.
