Lillian Keerbs 1904-2009

MALLARD – Funeral service for 104-year-old Lillian A. Keerbs of Mallard is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, Havelock. The Harris Funeral Home of Mallard is in charge of services.

Mrs. Keerbs died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg.

Lillian Agnes Keerbs, the daughter of Thomas C. and Anna (Reinders) Truog, was born July 18, 1904, in Mallard, IA, Ellington Township. She was raised and educated and lived her entire life near Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School.

On June 2, 1925, Lillian was united in marriage to Willard Keerbs. The couple lived in the Mallard area.

Lillian was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mallard, the Ladies Aid and circle of the church. She transcribed Sunday School lessons into braille for the blind and spent many years working for Lutheran World Relief making quilts.

Survivors include her children: Velma Keerbs of Mallard, Vivian Keerbs of Mallard, and Vernard (Ann) Keerbs of Spirit Lake; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Keerbs was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, May 30, 1965; and an infant son, Thomas Vernon.
