Funeral service for Michael J. “Mickey”?Conlon is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans will officiate.

Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattie Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, March 5. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service is at 6:30 p.m.

Mickey Conlon died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg. He was 65.

Michael J. Conlon, son of Floyd and Edna (Fandel) Conlon, was born Jan. 13, 1944, in Emmetsburg. He attended St. Mary’s grade school and Emmetsburg Catholic High School, graduating in 1962. He attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, MO.

Mickey was employed by Boggess Construction before going to work for the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Department. He served as dispatcher for 26 years, retiring in 2008. Mickey loved working on the farm and he loved being with his brother and sisters and their children.

Mickey was a member of Holy Family Parish in Emmetsburg, the Knights of Columbus Council 936 of Emmetsburg and the Knights of Columbus Bishop Heelan Assembly.

Survivors include his brother and sisters, Pat and Denny Staiert of Carroll, Jean Marie Schumacher of Whittemore, Dan and Alice Conlon of New Hampton, and Mary Therese and Norm Kohlhaas of Livermore; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Bob Schumacher; and nephew Billy Staiert.
