Jeffrey W. Johnson 1961-2009
RUTHVEN — Funeral service for Jeffrey W. Johnson of Colorado Springs,?CO, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Luther Thoresen will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Ruthven, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the funeral home in Ruthven.
Mr. Johnson died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his home in Colorado Springs, CO. He was 47.
Jeffrey Wayne Johnson, son of Wayne “Ole”?and Donna (Sharteved), was born Sept. 9, 1961, in Sioux Center. He attended school in Emmetsburg and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1980. While in high school, Jeffrey was an outstanding athlete playing football, basketball, baseball, golf and participating in track.
Following high school, Jeffrey attended Des Moines Community College on a baseball scholarship. In 1995 Jeffrey moved to Colorado Springs where he taught computer classes and helped his sister Julie with her Tax and Accounting business. He was also employed as a salesman at Sofa Mart and served as a security officer at Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park and Double Eagle Casino.
On June 2, 2006, Jeffrey and Nikki Williams were married at Colorado Springs, CO.
Survivors include his wife, Nikki Johnson of Colorado Springs,?CO; step son, Elijah Williams; step grandson, Donovyn Williams; his parents, Wayne “Ole” and Donna Johnson of Ruthven; his sister, Julie Leann Johnson and his niece, Carli Leann Johnson, both of Peyton,?CO.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Mary Johnson and Emil and Dorothy Sharteved; uncles, Gustav Johnson, Harry Hilton and Leonard Johnson; and an aunt, Seiri Hilton.
