LeRoy H. Miller 1919-2009

Funeral service for LeRoy H. Miller of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris, First United Methodist Church, Emmetsburg, will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. today, Thursday, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. He was 89.

LeRoy Harold Miller was born July 30, 1919, the son of Rudolph and Elsie (Westfall)??Miller. He received his education in country schools in Palo Alto County.

On Jan. 4, 1942, LeRoy was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving with the 718th Military Police. He was stationed in California during World War II. In 1943 he was honorably discharged.

On Nov. 23, 1952, LeRoy Miller and Charlotte B. Larson were married in Lytton. LeRoy did grain and livestock farming for many years near Emmetsburg.

Survivors include his sons, Raymond Miller of Emmetsburg, Dale Miller and his friend, Marge Hnath of Emmetsburg, and Jerry Miller of Emmetsburg; a brother, Henry Miller of Emmetsburg; and sisters, Alice Conn of Santa Barbara, CA and Grace Wiegand of Algona.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents; a brother, Raymond Miller; sisters, Elsie Mae Miller in infancy, Mildred Berkland, Edna Henderson and Mary Reese.
