Bernadine Girres 1915-2009

WEST BEND — Funeral service for Bernadine Girres of West Bend is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. Burial will follow in the West Bend Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the church where a CDA Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. The Harris Funeral Home in West Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Girres, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the West Bend Care Center.

Bernadine Marie Girres was born Dec. 24, 1915, in West Bend, the daughter of Andrew and Theresa (Koppi)?Yoch. She received her education at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated from West Bend High School in 1932.

On Sept. 21, 1937, Bernadine and Cornelius “Dick”?Girres were married in West Bend. The couple lived and farmed in the West Bend area, then moved to town in 1973. Bernadine was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include her children:?Gerald (Joan)?Girres of Bode, Ron (Judy)?Girres of West Bend, Carol (Joe)?Eoriatti of West Bend, Ray (Kathy) Girres of Plymouth, IN, Rich (Linda)?Girres of West Bend, and Father Ed Girres of Algona; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Eileen Reding of West Bend, and a brother, Emil Yoch of West Bend.

Mrs. Girres was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick, in 2007; and brothers Alphonsus and Clarence.
