Rachel M. Jackson 1987-2008

Funeral service for Rachel M. Jackson of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris will officiate.

Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge.

Rachel died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at age 21.

Rachel Marie Jackson, daughter of Kimberly Moser and Jim Sobkoweak, was born March 24, 1987, in Emmetsburg. She attended school in Emmetsburg and graduated from Five Island Lake Alternative School. When Rachel was in school she was active in the Cantering 4-H Club.

Rachel will be remembered for her strong will and determination and she used these talents to overcome trials that she faced in her life. She was a hard worker from a very young age, walking beans and picking up rock on the farm. She worked at McDonald’s and at the Rack Shack in Cylinder. She loved singing karaoke and she played on the Rack Shack softball team.

On Sept. 12, 2008, Rachel and Lawson Jackson were married in Algona.

Rachel had all the time in the world for her three children. She loved watching them grow and play. She found great contentment in her marriage to Lawson and in caring for her children. She treasured their love and the life they had together.

Survivors include her husband, Lawson of Emmetsburg; her children, Hannah and Brooke Williams of Springfield, MN, and Lawson Jackson of Emmetsburg; her mother, Kimberly Moser of Cylinder; her father, Jim (Shawna) Sobkoweak of Fonda; brothers and sisters, Nicholas Gappa of Emmetsburg, Ryan Sobkoweak of Laurens, Jessica Sobkoweak of Estherville, James Sobkoweak of Rutland, and Josh Ficken, Keera Ficken and Hailey Natt, all of Fonda; mother-in-law, Becky Matheson of Storm Lake; father-in-law, Lawson Jackson Sr. of Livingston, TX; sister-in-law, Sasha Jackson of Storm Lake; her grandparents, Jim and Mary Moser; grandmothers-in-law, Martha Jackson and Iva Seefieldt; aunts and uncles, relatives and friends.

Rachel was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Joyce Sobkoweak; grandfathers-in-law, John Jackson and Clarence Matheson; and great grandparents, Leo and Iva Moser and Bill and Rose Carney.
