Jack O. Frohling 1924-2008
MALLARD — Funeral service for Jack O. Frohling of Mallard is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. Burial will be in Rush Lake Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Harris Funeral Home in Mallard.
Mr. Frohling died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. He was 85.
Jack Frohling, the son of Henry and Gladys (Bolger) Frohling, was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Webster City. He was raised and educated in Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School in 1942.
Jack attended one year at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
On Dec. 7, 1952, Jack Frohling and Suzann Froh were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. Jack was a farmer, carpenter and served many years as the custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Jack was also a member of the Mallard American Legion.
Survivors include his children: Thomas (Kerry) of Castaic, CA, Michael (Jess) of Carbondale, IL, and Catherine (Craig) Petersen of Boone; and five grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers Merlin of Panora and James of Bristol, VA; sister, Florence Warnke of Jackson; MN; half brother Lonnie Frohling of Colorado Springs, CO; and half-sister, Jeanine Jorgenson of Hooper, NE.
Mr. Frohling was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Suzann; a son, John; brother, Michael and a brother in infancy; a sister, Marian; and his stepmother, Florence.
