Margaret Mahan 1915-2008
GRAETTINGER — Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Mahan of Graettinger was Friday, Oct. 31, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. The Rev. Msgr. Michael Sernett was Celebrant.
Burial was in St. Jacob’s Catholic Cemetery, Graettinger. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Graettinger was in charge.
Margaret Mary (Tindall) Mahan, the daughter of Miles J. and Elizabeth (Bosold) Tindall was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Graettinger, and departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, at the age of 93.
She received her early education in the rural Hoprig school, and later graduated from Graettinger High School in 1933.
On May 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Paul Mahan at Camp Barkley, TX. After their marriage the couple made their home in Graettinger. Margaret worked at Palo Alto County Hospital and later Emmetsburg Care Center for 14 years.
Margaret was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Joseph Mahan and his wife, Meridee of Humboldt; Mark Mahan of Basehor, KS; Mary Baier and her husband, Lynn of Kenyon, MN; Robert Mahan and his wife, Beverly of Emmetsburg; and Edwin Mahan of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mae Torrence; brother Edwin “Brick” Tindall and his wife, Carol all Graettinger.
Preceding Margaret in death are her parents; husband; son, Alan; four brothers, Ralph, Raymond, John and Arthur; and three sisters, Alice, Mabel and Dorothy.
