Alice K. Perdue 1915-2008
Mass of Christian Burial for Alice K. Perdue of Emmetsburg was Saturday, Oct. 4, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg.
Burial was in St. Jacob’s Cemetery, Graettinger. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge.
Mrs. Perdue, 93, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Emmetsburg Care Center.
Alice Kathryn Perdue was born Feb. 19, 1915, in Graettinger, the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann (Smith) Weir. She graduated from Graettinger High School.
On June 18, 1941, Alice and Forrest Perdue were married in Ruthven. Alice taught country school for 13 years and later worked as a bookkeeper with Spies Farm Land and retired after 19 years at the A.S.C.S. office in Emmetsburg. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and C.D.A. Alice had served as secretary of the Palo Alto County Compensation Board.
Surviving are her two children: John Perdue of Perry, and Julie (Wayne) Wilson of Des Moines; three grandchildren; a brother, John Weir of Algona, and two sisters-in-law, Helene Weir of Minneapolis, MN, and Maureen Weir of Ruthven.
Alice Perdue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Francis and A.J. (Tiny) Weir; and sister-in-law, Helen Weir.
