Meredee Baade 1926-2008

GOWRIE — Memorial service for former Emmetsburg resident Meredee Baade is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie. Pastor Jim Davis will officiate. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Meredee Baade died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at the Gowrie Care Center in Gowrie. She was 81.

Meredee Myers was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Ringsted. She graduated from Ringsted High School and NW Missouri State, then taught at Centerville.

On July 6, 1952, Meredee and John Baade were married. She taught Elementary Physical Education in the Fort Dodge Public School system for many years. The couple retired to Emmetsburg and later moved to Gowrie.

John and Meredee enjoyed watching their grandchildren’s activities. Meredee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, WELCA, and the Webster County Retired Teacher’s Association.

Survivors include her sons, Errol (Chris) Baade of Farmington, NM, Rod (Cathy) Baade of Aztec, NM, and Tim (Tammy) Baade of Gowrie;; daughters, Ann (Jeff) Kruse of Gowrie and Melanie (Warren) Bintz of Dayton; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Evie (Ernest) Wise and Sophia Cambra.

Mrs. Baade was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frankie Meyrs; her husband, John; sister, Lois Jane Sroufe; and brothers, Bill Myers, Frank Myers, Errol Myers and Vernon Myers.
