Dean Prentice 1935-2008
Memorial services for Dean Prentice were held Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the United Methodist Church in West Bend. The Rev. Evelyn Lewiston officiated. Inurnment was in the West Bend Cemetery.
Dean died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society, Algona, where he had been a resident since June 2008. He was 73.
Darrell Dean Prentice was born May 26, 1935, in Rolfe, the son of Harry and Ione (DeBolt) Prentice. He grew up in Rodman where he attended school and graduated from Rodman High School. After his schooling he began to drive truck.
On Jan. 23, 1955, Dean was united in marriage to Mary Krug The couple lived in Rodman and later moved to several different towns before later in life settling in Sun City, AZ. While still living in Arizona, Mary died, June 28, 2001. Dean continued living in Arizona until moving back and settling in West Bend in 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Prentice of West Bend and Jay Prentice and wife Becky of Johnstown, CO; six grandchildren, Julie Prentice, Jenny Jergens, Jody McNeel, Jacey Prentice, Teri Prentice and Jason Prentice; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters, Carol Hoch, Jean Thilges, Krista Christensen, Mary Prentice and Delores Petersen; brothers, Vern, Arden and Lee Prentice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; sister, Dorothy Krug; brothers, Glen and Warren.
Arrangements were handled by the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral of Whittemore.
