Clarence Shipley 1925-2008
ESTHERVILLE-Clarence C. “Skip” Shipley of Spirit Lake, formerly of Seattle, WA, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 82.
Funeral service for Mr. Shipley was Wednesday, July 9, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Pastor Steve Britton officiated.
Burial was in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. Military rites were conducted at the grave site by members of VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91, Estherville.
Clarence C. Shipley, the son of Frank and Blanche (Patterson) Shipley, was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Luverne. He received his education in the rural country schools. After completing his education, Skip served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1943 to 1945.
Skip lived and worked most of his life in Iowa, California and the Seattle, WA area where he was employed as a mechanic for Boeing.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) and dedicated his life to the VFW and his church.
Clarence is survived by his children, Carol Rydstrand, Karen Wilkins, Dawn Hauschen and Clark Schmidtke; siblings, Mary Smith and Rolland Shipley; his wife, Carol; and many other loved ones.
Preceding Skip in death were his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
