Thelma L. Jeffries 1920-2008

Funeral service for Thelma L. Jeffries of Emmetsburg is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David Biddle will officiate.

Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery, Eldon, MO.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jeffries died Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Emmetsburg Care Center. She was 87.

Thelma Lavona Jeffries, daughter of Grant and Vinnie (Clark) Biddle, was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Milo, IA.

In May 1946 Thelma was united in marriage to Riley Orvill Jeffries in Lacona, IA. The couple made their home in Osceola where Orvill built the Assembly of God Church and served as pastor. They later moved to Missouri. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church and Women’s Ministries in Church.

Surviving are three brothers, Walter Biddle of Des Moines, the Rev. John (Bessy) Biddle of Mt. Ayr, and the Rev. David (Roberta) Biddle of Emmetsburg; and a sister-in-law, Alice Biddle of New Mexico.

Mrs. Jeffries was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Orvill Jeffries in 1990; and three brothers, Ivan Biddle and Wilfred Biddle, and Dale Biddle in infancy.
