Margaret Oberg 1932-2008

Memorial service for Margaret Oberg of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David A. Morris will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge.

Mrs. Oberg died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. She was 75.

Margaret Inez Oberg, daughter of A. Gaylord and Beulah A. (Redman) Olson, was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Adams County, ND. She received her education at Haynes Public School in Haynes, ND, graduating in 1950.

On Aug. 8, 1954, Margaret and Robert Dean Oberg were married at Haynes Congregational Church. Margaret was employed as a bookkeeper for Schneider Plumbing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she was active in Circle 1. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #345 in Mallard, and Royal Neighbors of America.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, of South Dakota; her children: David (Lisa) Oberg of Emmetsburg, Dennis (Frances) Oberg of Janesville, CA, Cheryl Eliason (Don Voss) of Cottage Grove, MN, and Carrie (Peter) Urberg of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Alexis, Katrina, Miles and Jessica; and two great grandchildren, Amelia and Jozzlynne.

Also surviving are a brother, Kenneth Olson of Hettinger, ND; brother-in-law, Roger Hegre of Timber Lake, SD; and sister-in-law, Joan Hoffman of Greenwood, IN.
