Albert O. Jacobs 1927-2008
WELLS, MN — Albert O. Jacobs, 80, of Alden, MN, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea, MN.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Pastor Greg Ofsdahl will officiate and burial will be in the Alden Cemetery, Alden, Freeborn County, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Alden American Legion-Freeborn Veteran’s Organization. The Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, is in charge of arrangements.
Albert was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Alden, MN, the son of Edward and Bertha (Jordan) Jacobs. He graduated from Alden High School in 1945 and entered into the Army. He went through basic training at Fort Polk, LA and was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, TX. He returned home to the family farm to continue farming, where he enjoyed spending the rest of his life.
On June 28, 1949 Albert married Marjean Swenson in Wells, MN. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Alden American Legion, and the Alden Senior Citizens. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife after retirement and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: James and Elmer; sisters Marie, Thelma, and Dorothy.
He is survived by wife Marjean of Alden; six children Nancy (Darris) Larson of Plymouth, IA, Alan (Jackie) Jacobs of Ellendale, MN, Debra Kauffmann (special friend Charles Kalina) of Faribault, MN, Brian (Amber) Jacobs of Alden, MN, Randy (Kim) Jacobs of Cylinder, IA, Wayne (Nancy) Jacobs of Alden; 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Anna Jahnke and Deloris Jacobs, both of Alden; brother Donald Jacobs of Manchester, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.
