Miriam Burg 1913-2008
RUTHVEN — Memorial service for Miriam Burg of Emmetsburg is 1:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 4, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Luther Thoresen will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church from 12 noon until time of service on Tuesday.
Mrs. Burg died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was 94.
Miriam Ingeborg Erickson Burg was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Ruthven, the daughter of Erick A. and Karolina (Anderson) Erickson. She received her education in Ruthven, graduating in 1931.
On Feb. 15, 1932, Miriam and Karry LaFayette Burg were married in Canton, SD. Miriam was a devoted farm wife and mother. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and deacon, as well as holding various offices in church organizations. She served as a 4-H leader and had volunteered at Lakeside Lutheran Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Fitzloff (Pete) of Powell, WY; four grandchildren, Jo and Ralph Hamlin of Mesa, AZ, Jeri Rouse of Santa Rosa, CA, Dan and Marie Fitzloff of Rock Springs, WY, and Holly and Allen Moen of Cody, WY; and four great grandchildren who all reside in Wyoming. Also surviving are two sisters, Evelyn and Etts Hanson of Tucson, AZ, and Lucille Goff of Montrose, CO.
Mrs. Burg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, K.L. Burg; a daughter, Elaine Cooke; and a sister, Helen Riecke.
