Alma E. Wheeler 1917-2008

Funeral service for Alma E. Wheeler of Emmetsburg is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Steve Ellerbusch and the Rev. David Biddle will officiate.

Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wheeler died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmets-burg. She was 90.

Alma E. Wheeler was born May 3, 1917, in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Richard and Pauline (Gronbach) Kinnetz. She received her education in Emmetsburg.

Alma was united in marriage to Thad Wheeler. She was a devoted homemaker. She also did cleaning, including at the ASC Office and she was custodian for IPS.

Alma was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children: Thelma Harris (Robert) of Graettinger, Francis Wheeler (Regina) of Doniphan, MO, Bill Wheeler (Betty) of Maquoketa, Jerry Wheeler of Emmetsburg, and Joy Currans of Emmetsburg; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Jo Bliek of Emmetsburg; and half-sisters, Barb Graff of Emmetsburg, Zelda Fett of Chandler, AZ, Elaine Swanson of Ayrshire, Linda Laws of Emmetsburg and Mary Douglas of Ft. Dodge.

Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thad, in 1985; brothers and sisters, Ernest Kinnetz, Freda Harrington, Meta Bahr, Florence Lehner, Fame Juhl and Irene Wedebrand; a grandson, Michael Harris; a granddaughter, Mellissa Wheeler; a half-brother, Benny Kinnetz; and son-in-law, Tim Currans.
