Leisha E. Carpenter 1964-2008
Leisha Elaine Carpenter died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. She was 43.
Funeral service for Leisha Carpenter was Saturday, Feb. 16, at Grace Baptist Church in Emmetsburg. Pastor Curtis DeFord officiated. Casket bearers were Leisha’s brothers.
Burial was in Rush Lake Cemetery, Curlew. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Leisha was born Sept. 9, 1964, in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Raymond and Phyllis (Barringer) Carpenter. She received her education in Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School in 1983.
Leisha continued her education at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny for one year. She returned to Emmetsburg and received her degree in the Hotel-Motel Management program at Iowa Lakes Community College. She cooked at Kathleen’s Residential Care Facility while attending school.
Leisha worked at On With Life in Ankeny and at Wesley Acres where she served as the dining center supervisor. She was a member of the Dietary Manager’s Association.
Leisha shared her life with others by being a foster parent to four young boys, Billie Jo, Lloyd “Junior”, Dustin and Steven.
Survivors include her parents, Raymond and Phyllis Carpen-ter of Emmetsburg; six brothers, Leslie and Tammy of Arvada, CO, Lauren of Curlew, Lyndon of Colo, LaVern and Patricia of Des Moines, Leland of Graettinger and Lenard of Iowa City; two sisters, Leanne of Des Moines, and Lynell and Tim Kuhn of Pocahontas; and 21 nieces and nephews.
Leisha Carpenter was preceded in death by her grandparents.
