Wanda Gronbeck Peglow

RUTHVEN — Funeral service for Wanda Gronbeck Peglow of Emmetsburg was held Sunday, Jan. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiated.

Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.

Wanda died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg at the age of 81.

Wanda Mary (Sundall) Gronbeck Peglow was born May 5, 1926, in Wallingford, the daughter of Laurence and Luella (Wikert) Sundall. She graduated from Ruthven High School in 1944.

On Nov. 5, 1944, Wanda and Peter N.E. Gronbeck were married at Mason City. Wanda was employed at various jobs in Ruthven, including the Ruthven Hiway Cafe. She later went to work at Berkley’s.

After Peter’s death in 1989, Wanda was married to Don Peglow in 1992 in Ruthven.

Survivors include her children, Karen and Roger McEwan of Rochester, MN, Peter Joe and Rosemary Gronbeck of Emmetsburg, and Kirby and Janet Gronbeck of Ankeny; daughter-in-law, Gina Gronbeck of Estherville; 14 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Wanda Gronbeck Peglow was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Peter, on June 30, 1989; her second husband, Donald, on Jan. 29, 2004; a son, Dan Gronbeck; and two brothers, Dayton and Lloyd.
