Harvey F. Evans 1920-2007
RUTHVEN — Harvey F. Evans of Ruthven died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Spencer Municipal Hospital. He was 87.
Funeral service for Mr. Evans was Saturday, Dec. 1, at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge.
Harvey Frank Evans was born May 15, 1920, in Lake Park, MN, the son of Frank and Clara (Sternke) Evans. He attended country school in the Lake Park area.
On April 6, 1943, Harvey Evans and Lois Simington were married in Hawley, MN. Harvey farmed in Minnesota before moving to Ruthven where he hauled milk for the Ruthven Creamery. He was later employed by the Ruthven Co-op Oil Company where he drove the tank wagon.
Harvey and Lois operated the Laundromat in Ruthven. Harvey served as Water Superintendent for the City of Ruthven for several years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven and was active on the Ruthven Fire Department for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Ruthven; his children, Jerry Evans of Sioux Falls, SD, Judy and Bob Rausch of Spencer, and Dr. Harvey Evans, Jr., and wife Sherry of Humboldt; 14 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Melvin Evans of Washington, and a sister, Velva Poach of California.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim Evans; a daughter-in-law, Sue Evans; and a sister, Leora.
