Robert R. Keepers 1949-2007
Memorial service for Robert R. Keepers of Spencer is Saturday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery near Rodman.
Visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of service all at the funeral home.
Bob died suddenly at his home in Spencer on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the age of 58.
Robert Ray Keepers, son of Alvin and Marguerite (Graham) Keepers was born Jan. 6, 1949, in Whittemore. He attended Cylinder Consolidated School through his junior year and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN.
In 1969 Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was employed at Ernie Williams John Deere in Algona and was also a salesman for the Vernon Company. Bob worked at the United States Post Office for the past 21 years.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and the time spent in his shop. He received much pleasure from the projects he made for his family and friends. Bob was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Viking fan. His gentle nature and giving spirit affected many.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children Brian and his wife Tammy of Holland, MI, Brett and his wife Maria of Sioux Falls, SD and Brandon and his wife Dustyn of Holland, MI; stepchildren Cindy Mart and her husband Todd of Estherville, and Chad Cronk and his wife Jessica of Urbandale. His grandchildren are Emma Keepers and Maggie Keepers, Brady, Blake and Mason Mart, and Nathan and Alivia Cronk.
Also surviving are a brother, Thomas and his wife Karen of Bancroft, and a sister, Mary Helgevold and her husband David of Hawarden, as well as many other relatives and friends
Robert Keepers was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jackie.
