From the Desk of Public Health
Across Palo Alto County, excitement over the COVID vaccine is heard and felt. In our county, I am happy to say that we have finished the 1A tier and are anticipating starting 1B on February 1st. We are working on scheduling the first of our public COVID vaccine clinics for the second week of February. This clinic will be held at the VFW in Emmetsburg. At this time, our goal for this first clinic is to start with those who were eligible in Tier 1A, as well as those who are 65 and older. There will be limited appointments available based on the amount of vaccine that we have available within the county.
Rest assured, that if you do not get an appointment for this first clinic, there will be many more to come. Clinic frequency and number of appointments will be based on incoming supply. These clinics are designed to be able to add more appointments if vaccine is available. We will be holding clinics in Emmetsburg, West Bend, Graettinger and Ruthven to try to reach the entire county population.
On Monday, February 1, Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS) will begin taking appointments for this first clinic. To make your appointment, please call 712-852-5500 and push option 1 for clinic scheduling. You will be scheduled for two appointments – one for your first shot and the second for your booster dose. Please do not call prior to February 1 as PACHS staff is in the process of setting up the COVID clinic scheduling.
