The Chamber Celebrates Christmas
by Jane Whitmore
The goal this holiday season is to keep everyone healthy and safe during the pandemic. As a result, there will be no Breakfast With Santa this year, and Home for the Holidays and the Lighted Parade have been cancelled.
However, Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce has come up with some new ways to celebrate the season.
Shop Small Saturday kicks off the holiday shopping season. Small business owners throughout the nation are encouraging people to support local, small businesses this Saturday, Nov. 28.
“Shopping local has an all new meaning this year,” said Emmetsburg Chamber Director Deb Hite. “With the COVID-19 pandemic, business owners have appreciated people shopping local throughout this year.”
Share Joy – Shop Small all Season Long is the theme for Shop Small Saturday. Emmetsburg Chamber members will offer shoppers an incentive for shopping locally. Someone will earn an extra $200 to spend. Ask for details at participating Chamber member businesses.
Santa’s On His Way
Children may not be able to visit with Santa at Home for the Holidays, but Santa Claus will be available to visit Emmetsburg homes.
Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce and POET are sponsoring “Santa’s On His Way.” During the week of Dec. 7, Santa will be available to visit children from a safe distance and deliver a little bag of goodies.
Pre-register for a Santa visit by contacting Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce. Santa visits can be scheduled evenings, during the week of Dec. 7, between 5 and 7:30 p.m. There is a $10 charge for a 10-minute visit.
