ECSD Releases School COVID Metrics

Last Wednesday, Emmetsburg Community School District (ECSD) began sharing school-specific COVID-19 data outlining the number of students and staff affected by the virus.
“In an attempt to better inform students, parents, staff, and our community, we will begin sharing the metrics concerning virus activity within our school,” said Superintendent Darren Hanna. “ECSD will share as much information as possible while protecting the privacy of those in our school that have been affected by this virus.”
• PK-12 Active Cases: As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, there are 6-10 active cases of COVID in PK-12. The number represents students/staff who tested positive and are currently in isolation, with numbers presented in a range of five (5) to protect individual privacy.
• PK-12 Isolation: As of Nov. 4, there are 45-50 PK-12 students/staff in isolation/quarantine due to close contact with a positive individual (5-day average). Numbers are presented in a range of five (5) to protect individual privacy.
• Isolation/Quarantine Rate: 5.30% of the total student population are in isolation/quarantine as of Nov. 4 due to positive tests/close contact with a positive individual.
• Palo Alto County Positivity Rate: As of Nov. 4, the Palo Alto County 14-day average positive rate is 14.8% and listed online at https://coronavirus.iowa. gov/. This number can be very fluid, and the inclusion of this number on the dashboard is intended to represent a snapshot in time.
