Mainstreet Community Theatre Presents Twisted Tales of Poe
Emmetsburg Mainstreet Community Theatre will be back in action this month after having to put a hold on theatrical productions due to COVID-19. The theatre will record a production of a radio play entitled Twisted Tales of Poe.
The radio play, written by Philip Grecian, is based on Tales of Edgar Allen Poe and presents Poe’s macabre stories “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” and the poem, “The Raven.” The recording will be broadcast on 94.1 KEMB LP Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.
Actors participating in this radio production are Anna and Joe Veltri, Jacob Neff, Scott and Sarah Anliker, Jessica Thoren, Jen Meyer, Peggy Stolley, Linda Jones, and Jim Von Doltren. Chris Meyer will perform the sound effects and Ed Meyer will be recording. Jackie VanOosbree and Peggy Stolley are directing.
The theatre regrets the necessary hiatus in productions.
Plans are to produce another radio play during the holiday season, with A Christmas Carol to be recorded and broadcast on 94.1 KEMB LP and hopefully streamed on the internet, but live productions with audiences in attendance are on hold.
Actors in Steel Magnolias were forced to walk away from rehearsals in March. Steel Magnolias will be the first live production once COVID-19 is no longer a health hazard.
The student production of the musical Frozen KIDS, which was scheduled to be performed in June, will be the next in a future lineup.
Tune in to 94.1 KEMB LP Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. for an hour of spine-tingling theatre when Mainstreet presents Twisted Tales of Poe.
