SAND CASTLES

By Jane Whitmore - | Oct 15, 2020

SAND CASTLES -- An elaborate series of sand castles was built on the beach at Soper Park on Monday. This creative group of siblings came with shovels and sand pails to make their creation. They quickly found different colors of sand, sharing with one another. Elements from the shore were used as decoration, including weeds, sticks and small stones. The family recently moved to Emmetsburg from Tacoma, WA. They did not have access to a lake in Washington like they do in Emmetsburg, so they are enjoying being by the water. Pictured (from the left) are Isaiah, Jeb, Maggie and Calvin. Emma came along with her siblings and enjoyed watching the process and reading her book. Their father, David Dow teaches math at Emmetsburg High School. Their mother, Becky Dow is home school teacher for her children. Additional photos of the Dow childrens’ creations in the sand can be found on page 14 of The Democrat.
