“Autumn Spice” Emmetsburg Shopping Experience
by Jane Whitmore
A four-day shopping event kicks off Wednesday for Emmetsburg area businesses. “Autumn Spice & Everything Nice” is an opportunity sponsored by Emmetsburg Shop Local for shoppers to explore 32 business. The event begins Oct. 14 and continues through Saturday, Oct. 17.
“Everyone wanted to do something, and due to the pandemic we had to get creative,” said Erica Janssen, co-chair of the shopping event. “In the past we have done a Wine Walk, but that wasn’t possible this year. So we came up with a punch card event where everyone can go to different businesses over four days.”
Each shopper will get a punch card and a map of participating businesses, Janssen explained. Shoppers have four days to get their card punched at each business/vendor. Shoppers also get a punch for a purchase of $10 or ore at each business/vendor.
Completed punch cards should be returned to A Heavenly Celebration or to The Willow Tree Garden Center by Monday morning, Oct. 19, to be entered to win prizes.
Cards with 33 or more punches will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. The grand prize is a gift basket worth $200.
Safety measures will be in placer at all participating businesses to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Shoppers are encouraged to practice social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended.
During the month of October, participating businesses are collecting donations to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. All donations wil go to the Palo Alto County Health System Mammography Department.
