Practical Nursing Program at ILCC Ranked Best in Iowa
Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg received a first place ranking as the best Practical Nursing (PN) Program in the state of Iowa by PracticalNursing. org, a leading Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) advancement and ranking agency since 2014.
“The Practical Nursing program at Iowa Lakes Community College makes us hopeful and motivated to see what the future will bring for nursing, and we are happy to share that PracticalNursing.org has ranked Iowa Lakes’ program as the best in Iowa,” explained Carly Jacobs from PracticalNursing.org.
The organization assesses Nursing programs based on several factors, including government sourced data and NCLEX-PN exam passing rates for the past five years using an objective ranking methodology, representing how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. The NCLEX-PN exam is used by state boards of nursing to ensure proficiency before granting licensure.
“The nursing program is pleased to receive this ranking as it is a validation of the faculty’s sacrifices and dedication to our students,” expressed Tammy Shimon, Director of Nursing Education at Iowa Lakes. “We all find preparing students for a rewarding career to be an overwhelming satisfaction, and to receive recognition for our efforts is appreciated.”
Iowa Lakes offers a practical nursing diploma program that trains the next generation of compassionate and skilled LPNs. Throughout the three-term program, students receive real-world, hands-on training in a high-tech Nursing Simulation Lab and through clinical nursing experiences. Additionally, students take courses such as Dosage Calculations, Health Informatics, and Developmental Psychology to give them the tools they need to provide exceptional patient care. Graduates are poised to find employment in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, and more.
