Wings And Wetlands Weekend May 12
The Palo Alto County Conservation Foundation, Palo Alto County Sportsmans’ Ducks Unlimited Chapter and the Palo Alto County Pheasants Forever organization are once again joining forces to present the annual Wings & Wetlands event. The 2018 Wings and Wetlands Weekend will be over the weekend of Saturday, May 12th and Sunday, May 13, at the Lost Island Nature Center.
This year’s Wings and Wetlands event will feature Dr. Bob Brodman from Buena Vista University of Storm Lake. Dr. Brodman will conduct several sessions about various species of amphibians and reptiles found in our area.
Following Dr. Brodman’s presentation, kids of all ages will be able to get outside and learn how to set up a perfect campsite, as well as being able to explore a wetland.
Attendees will also be able to practice their archery skills and build a duck or bird house.
All events for Wings and Wetlands Day will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 and will conclude by 4:30 p.m. that day.
The Lost Island Nature Center staff requests that a parent or guardian be present with their children during the entire event.

Wings and Wetlands Weekend will conclude on Sunday, May 13th, with a bird hike on the trails around Lost Island Lake. Lee Schoenewe lwill lead a bird hike which will meet at the Nature Center at 7:30 a.m., with coffee and juice before the hike. The hike will be educational for all ages!
