For all those ready for winter to be over, a sure sign of Spring is the annual E-Hawk Athletic Booster Club Golf Outing. The 2018 edition of the golf outing is set for Friday, June 15 at the Five Island Golf Course. Registration and lunch will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a shot-gun start at 1 p.m.

The outing is a four-person best shot format over nine holes. At the conclusion of the golf rounds, prizes and awards will follow at The Shores.

The Golf Outing is a yearly fundraiser for the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Athletic programs. In the 2016-2017 school year, through the efforts of the Emmetsburg Sports Booster Club, a donation of $15,535 was given to the Emmetsburg Community Schools to be placed in the General Activities budget. Additionally, funds were designated or donated for an Ipad and accessories for recording/filming athletic contests and new headsets for the football coaching staff use during games. Funds were also allocated for a shelter tent for the Cross Country teams, and new uniforms for the Emmetsburg Middle School Track Teams.

Booster club funds were also provided for improvements to the pitching mound on the baseball diamond and Middle School wrestling singlets, as well as new baseball bats.

Funding was allocated towards the printing of football and volleyball programs, a donation to the joint Emmetsburg-Estherville-Algona Swim Team and a donation to the Emmetsburg High School Dance team, as well as the purchase of a new popcorn popper for concession stand use at events.

The Booster Club also provided funding for Speed, Agility Quickness ladders, special Senior athletic blankets, and sack lunches for teams playing games away from Emmetsburg. Meal funds were also donated for athletes participating in State Competitions, including State Tournament Wrestlers, Lady E-Hawk Golfers and State Track Qualifiers.

Funds were donated to provide practice rounds for the Lady E-Hawks’ Regional, District and State Golf meets and also for the E-Hawk Golf Team’s Sectional golf meet.

Booster club funds purchased additional track starting blocks and a cart, as well as multi-sport HUDL?Software. And, the Booster Club also donated funds to the Hot Shots Trap Shooting program and made a donation to assist in purchasing new cheerleading uniforms.
