PACH Growing Healthy Kids Program Baby Shower

By Staff | Apr 12, 2018

The Growing Healthy Kids Program of Palo Alto County is a program to assist families during pregnancy and after birth of a baby and it is facilitated by Palo Alto County Community Health. Families who participate in the Growing Healthy Kids Program are provided nurse visits during pregnancy along with visits after the baby is born to offer support and education regarding baby’s health, immunizations, safety, growth and development. The program also provides ongoing support to promote healthy relationships within the family unit. Lastly, the program links families with community resources, in which many families benefit from Upper Des Moines Opportunity and the Stork’s Closet as one resource in Palo Alto County.

Families who participate in the Growing Healthy Kids Program are provided coupon points for well-baby doctor’s office visits, car seat safety checks, immunization clinics, prenatal classes, and nurse home visits. As families accrue coupon points, they can go to the Stork’s Closet to purchase items such as diapers, clothing, blankets, car seats, and other items for infant care. Palo Alto Community Health purchases the Stork’s Closet items. Throughout the year, we reach out to the county residents for donations of the various items or for a cash donation.

Baby Shower boxes for donations will be placed at Palo Alto County Hospital and Family Practice Clinics in Emmetsburg, West Bend and Graettinger between Monday, April 16th through Monday, April 30th. If you prefer to send a cash donation, you may drop off or mail to Palo Alto County Community Health, 3201 1st St, Emmetsburg, Iowa 50536 or to Stork’s Closet, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, 2905 25th St., Emmetsburg, Iowa 50536.
