Members of the Emmetsburg Education Association and the Emmetsburg Community School District Board of Directors met Thursday morning to exchange salary proposals for the coming year.

In presenting their proposal, the Education Association, represented by Andrea Accola-Sabin, Erka Siefken and Arik Kerr, presented a proposal to the school board requesting a 2.74 percent total cash wage package, with a five-year duration for the agreement.

In their counter offer, the school district, represented by School Board President Jane Hoyman and Board member Pete Hamilton, countered with an offer of 2.61 percent total cash package with a two-year duration for the agreement.

As the exchange of proposals is the first step in the bargaining process, negotiations will be conducted in closed meetings to be established under the guidelines of the Code of Iowa.
