Students Participate In NCIBA Honor Band

On Saturday, November 12th, three Emmetsburg Middle School instrumental musician represented their school and community as performers in the North Central Iowa Bandmasters Association Honor Band. The Honor Band concert was held Saturday, Nov. 12, at John Adams Middle School in Mason City.

Emmetsburg muscians participating in the elite group were Tatum Iverson on trumpet, Annika Poeppe on flute, and Tamra Trewin on trumpet. The three students had to prepare scales, an etude, and band music for chair placement auditions on Saturday morning in Mason City.

After those preliminary auditions, they rehearsed throughout the day and concluded with an afternoon concert. The two honor bands were under the direction of Mr. Nate Sletten, Director of Bands in Earlham and Mr. Paul Bloomquist, Director of Bands at Iowa Central Community College. Tatum, Annika, and Tamra are under the direction of Ms. Holly Prier, Director of Bands for Emmetsburg.
