Service Project Supporting Puppy Jake Foundation

By Staff | Nov 15, 2016

Members of the Emmetsburg High School Chapter of the National Honor Society are participating in a service project to support Veterans. The students are joining in an effort to support the Puppy Jake Foundation.

This program provides professionally trained service dogs to wounded military veterans, this also means they are trained to assist veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and mobility impairments. These dogs are adopted by families who train and raise them for the first 18-24 months of their lives and are then given to a veteran.

Emmetsburg’s students are working on donations to the foundation in memory of area soldiers Dan Sidles and Matt Tindall, both victims of PTSD.

The project involves donating items needed for the training of the dogs for the foundation. Cash donations are welcomed and will be used to purchase items on the Foundation’s “Wish List”.

The NHS?members hope to be able to collect donations after Thanksgiving and in the month of December.

Persons wanting more information or to donate may contact Sarah Simington or Allison Freeman, or NHS?Advisor Jill Schany at Emmetsburg High School.
