By Staff | Aug 30, 2016

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, Then Feed Just One.”

For the fifth year, Palo Alto County will host a “Then Feed Just One”?Packing Day.

Volunteers will gather Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Palo Alto County Fairgrounds to package high quality, highly nutritious and tasty meals to send around the world to help fight world hunger. This is an easy way to participate in a mission project and lend a hand without leaving the area.

Sign up for one of four one-hour shifts: 8 to 9 a.m., 9 to 10 a.m., 10 to 11 aa.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Each volunteer will make a $30 donation.

To register for the event call Lois Stanley at 712-852-2692 or Bonnie Whitney at 712-852-9160. You may email stanprop@iowa telecom.net or bonniew @iowatelecom.net or for more information.

Area residents can also adopt-a-youth to pack meals or just make a $30 donation.

Volunteers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before their shift for check-in. Those who prefer not to wear a hair net can bring a hat to wear.

Emmetsburg hosted its first “Then Feed Just One” packing day in 2012. Since then Emmetsburg area volunteers have packed over 1/4 million meals, that have been delivered and used around the world. Every meal packaged makes a difference and improves another person’s life!

“Then Feed Just One” is a not-for-profit corporation out of LeMars. This mobile food packaging program puts together life saving nutritious meals for starving children and their families in Honduras, Central America. The name is taken from a quote of Mother Teresa, who once said, “If you cannot feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up today.
