Sheriff’s Office Investigating Incident
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a deceased person on a county road last Wednesday.
According to Palo Alto County Sheriff Lynn Schultes, at 6:33 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a possible deceased person who had been found at the intersection of 460 Street and 380 Ave, four miles south of Aryshire. Upon arrival at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office located a deceased 47-year old male, with a severe head injury, laying on the ground next to an upright motorcycle. The Palo Alto County Coroner pronounced the male dead at 7:32 a.m. July 13.
The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations was called to assist with the investigation and the body was transferred to the custody of the Iowa State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny for an autopsy. Items recovered from the scene were collected and were also sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Laboratory in Ankeny for further examination.
The name of the male has not being released, pending notification of family and relatives.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ayrshire First Responders, Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, Ayrshire Fire Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Patrol.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
