Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight Scheduled For September 17
Having recently completed our 12th Honor Flight on May 7, 2016, the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight Board is announcing that the next flight will be on September 17, 2016.
On the May 7, 2016 flight were six WWII veterans, 75 Korean veterans, and 66 Vietnam veterans.
This September 17 flight will be taking any WWII and Korean War veterans who have submitted applications for the flight. The remaining seats on the aircraft will be filled with Vietnam veterans who have applied on a first come first served basis.
Because the veterans themselves are not asked to pay for the flight, their counties are expected to raise donations for the expense of flying their veterans to see their memorials.
These veterans will be visiting their memorials in Washington, D. C. our nation’s capital.
They will depart from the Fort Dodge Regional Airport on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 6:20 a.m. and return back to Fort Dodge approximately 10:40 p.m. the same day.
The public is invited to welcome these heroes home.
The Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight Board thanks all of the people, organizations and businesses who have made our past flights possible. The veterans returning on our past flights were welcomed back home by crowds of over 600, and we hope to continue this tradition for future flights.
Veterans eligible for our September 17, 2016 flight are in the process of being notified. Any veterans who have applied do not need to reapply as their applications are kept on file.
