By Staff | Jun 7, 2016

The Mobile Food Pantry is coming to Palo Alto County. The Food Bank of Iowa has partnered with Grace Baptist Church in Emmetsburg to bring the mobile food pantry to Palo Alto County free of charge.

The Mobile Food Pantry will be here for the first time, on Thursday, June 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church. No identification is required but you will need to sign in with your name and address. It’s that simple.

The Food Bank of Iowa will be bringing a truck carrying 3,000 pounds of food to the area. The food pantry is set up similar to a farmer’s market and will include canned goods, dry goods, fresh produce and frozen goods. Bring bags, laundry baskets or boxes to carry the food.

Grace Baptist Church has committed one year to the Mobile Food Pantry, meaning that this will be a monthly event held on the second Thursday of each month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Food Bank of Iowa has one major goal: A hunger free Iowa. The Food Bank of Iowa has a major purpose with the Mobile Food Pantry and that is to raise awareness of the hunger problem in our state, especially in the areas where pantry access does not exist or resources are very limited.

Grace Baptist Church is located at 2801 17th Street in Emmetsburg. Anyone with questions, can call the Food Bank of Iowa at 515-564-0330.
