Commencement Exercises Set For Sunday

For Seniors at Emmetsburg and West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate, the next chapter in their lives will begin this Sunday, May 21, with Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2016.

Emmetsburg High School

Commencement Exercises at Emmetsburg High School will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in the High School Gymnasium. The Class of 2016 has selected the motto, “Our lives are before us, our past is behind us, but our memories are forever with us.”

The Emmetsburg High School Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Aaron Phillips, will perform before the ceremonies and will provide the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance” processional for the Class of 2016.

Junior Class Marshals Michael Frerichs and Jason Huang will escort the 57 members of the Class of 2016. A video presentation on the class will be presented by class member Laura Moser, and Mistress of Ceremonies Kaitlyn Mason will provide a welcome to the audience and graduates.

The Emmetsburg High School Concert Choir, under the direction of Mr. Luke Miller, will present “See You Again and Crossing the Bar,” before the Commencement addresses, which will be presented by Salutatorian Bennetta Greene and Valedictorian Emily Schmidt.

Emmetsburg High School Principal Mr. Mike Embrock will present the Class of 2016 and Diplomas will be awarded by Emmetsburg co-Superintendent Gary Richardson and Emmetsburg School Board Members Mr. Rick Bird and Ms. Kim Campbell before the ceremonies close with the recessional by the concert band.

West Bend-Mallard/GC-B High School

With the motto “Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one,” the 31 members of the Class of 2016 of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate High School will celebrate their graduation in ceremonies at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in the school gymnasium in West Bend.

Following a welcome, Mr. Garrett Wirtz, a member of the West Bend-Mallard Class of 2006, will present the Commencement address prior to the Salutatorian and Valedictorian addresses.

High School Principal Mr. Paul Peppmeier will introduce the Class of 2016 and diplomas will be awarded by Superintendent Mrs. Amanda Schmidt and WB-M School Board President Wendell Schmidt.
