With the calendar turning to the month of August, a new school year is only three weeks away in the Emmetsburg Community School District. According to Superintendent Gary Richardson, several revisions in duties for administrators are planned for this coming school year.

For the coming school year, Mr. Mike Embrock will continue to serve as the High School Principal for the district, while Mrs. Tracie Christenson will serve as the Middle School Principal, as well as handling the duties of the district’s K-12 Curriculum Director. Previously, Mr. Embrock had served as the 5-12 Principal for the district, with Mrs. Christenson as the Assistant Principal.

Mr. Joe Carter will continue as the Elementary Principal for the district, and will also be the Director of Programs for K-12. In that capacity, Mr. Carter will oversee all PK-4 programming, District Transportation, the Teacher Learning Compensation System, Special Education Programs, At-Risk and Talented and Gifted (TAG) Programs and all Extra-Curricular Activity Programs.

Mrs. Amanda Schmidt will continue her duties as Shared Superintendent of Schools for Emmetsburg and West Bend-Mallard. In that position, Mrs. Schmidt will continue with leadership for the district in professional development, curriculum, instruction and personnel matters.

Mr. Gary Richardson will also continue as a half-time Interim Superintendent for the coming year, overseeing finance and budget matters, personnel issues, labor negotiations and School Board-Administrative relations. Additionally, Mr. Richardson will be serving in a mentoring role with Mr. Carter, which will include duties of an assistant superintendent and financial issues.

In the meantime, preparations for the upcoming school year are being completed, including work on the circle drive in front of the high school complex, as well as the remodeling project in the high school gymnasium. The first day of classes in the Emmetsburg Community School District will be Tuesday, August 25.
