NORTH LAKE STREET -- “Once Valley's crew finished the underground utility work in the 800 block of Palmer (after two tests of water samples FINALLY were void of bacteria), Beck's crew moved in and prepared the subbase and then laid the crushed rock which now serves as a temporary surface for nearby residents to use to access their properties,” said Emmetsburg City Administrator John Bird. “Once Palmer was passable by vehicle, we allowed Beck to remove the street surface and underground utility work to begin in the 800 block of Lake Street.” (pictured above) The Valley Contracting crew is also beginning to move north of 7th on Lake with the underground utility (water and sanitary sewer mains and services) work. “The curb and gutter crew will move in this week and, hopefully, will begin laying new curbs and gutters on Palmer, 8th Street, Lake Street between 8th and 7th, and on 7th Street between Lake and Broadway,” said Bird. --Jane Whitmore photo
