Cake Wars! at 2015 County Fair

By Staff | Jul 9, 2015

Cake Wars! is something new at the Palo Alto County Fair this year.

Cake Wars is a two part program that will take place the whole week of Palo Alto County Fair.

The first part of Cake Wars is to pick up a scavenger hunt list and complete the list. The scavenger hunt lists will be available being Monday, July 20, at the Extension Office. On the list, there are 46 questions to find answers for and each question is worth points.

Saturday morning, turn in your scavenger hunt list to the fair office. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, meet under the open air pavilion to purchase your cake supplies with the points you earned from the scavenger hunt list.

Each participant will be given an 8 inch cake to decorate with the supplies that they have picked out.

Cake decorating starts as soon as supplies have been purchased with points earned through the scavenger hunt. You will have 30 minutes to decorate your cake.

All cakes will be judged and the top three cakes will receive ribbons.

You are encouraged to do this event in pairs. There will be no sharing of supplies, so the more scavenger hunt questions you answer the more points you will have to obtain supplies.

This event is open to all ages. A mother/ daughter team is possible, two friends, brother/ sister team, father/ daughter team etc.

Grab someone and have a little fun at the fair this year. The best part is, when you are finished you get to eat your cake!

Don’t miss out on the fun. Stop at the Extension Office, 2008 10th Street, Emmetsburg on Monday, July 20, to pick up a scavenger hunt list and sign up for Cake Wars!
