Retirement Reception For Judge Bormann
A public retirement reception honoring retiring District Associate Judge Donald J. Bormann will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Palo Alto County Courthouse in Emmetsburg.
Judge Bormann and his family lived in Ruthven when he was appointed to the bench in July 2000. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota in 1964 and his law degree also from the University of South Dakota in 1966.
Judge Bormann served as a clerk to Axel J. Beck, Federal Judge; worked as a legal aid on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, South Dakota; and was in general private practice in Emmetsburg for 32 years.
Judge Bormann is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the Palo Alto County Bar Association. Don andAnnBormann have three children.
As a district associate judge of the Third Judicial District, Judge Bormann routinely held court in Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth counties. He also had jurisdiction to hear matters throughout the district and would travel to other counties as needed to assist with court coverage.
Judge Bormann will retire effective Feb. 24, 2014. The public is invited to the reception from 2 to 4 p.m.
