By Staff | Jan 3, 2014

Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg is proud to announce it has been named a 2013 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc.

The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently achieved the 95th percentile of performance in Patient Satisfaction.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a health care industry symbol of achievement. Fewer than 5% of all Press Ganey clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one year reporting period.

Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. hospitals, to measure and improve the patient experience.

According to Desiree Ensweiler, Administrator at Palo Alto County Health System, the award represents an important recognition from Press Ganey, the health-care industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience.

“The voice of our patients is very important to us”, commented Ensweiler. “Our hospital and clinics survey patients throughout the year using Press Ganey. We use these comments and suggestions to constantly improve our services to those to whom we provide care.”

Ensweiler continued, “The Guardian of Excellence Award was presented by Press Ganey to our Emergency Department and Home Health Care De

partment. It reflects the care and compassion our employees bring to work each day to provide the best health care possible to patients and their families who entrust their care to us.”

“We are proud to partner with Palo Alto County Health System,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Press Ganey. “Achieving this level of excellence reflects the organization’s commitment to delivering outstanding service and quality. Palo Alto County Health System’s efforts benefit patients and will lead to improved patient experiences.”
