By Staff | Nov 29, 2013

Emmetsburg City Council received an update on the Downtown Facade project at their Monday meeting. Chamber Director Deb Hite stated that 19 downtown properties have signed contracts.

“The project is within the budget now and there will be some contingency dollars,” added John Bird, City Administrator.

The council also considered whether or not to extend the consulting agree- ment with Steve Heldt for the Downtown Facade project. Heldt’s contract ran from May through Nov. 30.

“It appears everything is in line and not much will be going on this winter,” said Councilman Corey Gram-owski.

“I?talked with Dan Cooper (project contractor) and he plans to start in January,” said Hite. “I think Steve could do us a lot of good going forward. He’s a vital part of our team.”

“Every project has problems going forward,” said Councilman Brian Campbell. “Regardless of what we do tonight, somebody has to be named the go-to person. We can’t drop that ball now.”

The Finance Committee will take up the topic at a 7:30 a.m. meeting Dec. 5.
