Harvest Fest Celebration Saturday

Harvest Fest brings friends together with fun and a feast and a flurry of activity.

Emmetsburg Retail Association will host the annual event this Saturday, Oct. 19, at the V.F.W. Hall in Emmetsburg from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Beginning today, Harvest Fest businesses will distribute numbered Bingo balls from their stores. Bingo balls will be handed out Tuesday through Friday this week. Shoppers will be asked to take their “Mystery Bingo Balls” to the VFW on Saturday and trade them in for a door prize.

Enjoy a game of Bingo at the V.F.W. on Saturday. Games will be played every half-hour, beginning at 11:15 a.m. Prizes will be homemade pies.

Saturday is the first day to purchase 2013 Holiday Discount Buttons. The buttons are good for six weeks of specials at 16 business locations. Shoppers can start saving on Nov. 12. Those who purchase buttons during Harvest Fest will be eligible to win a homemade pie.

Bring the family for lunch at the V.F.W. Retail Association members will be serving ribeye sandwiches, beginning at 11 a.m. A free will donation will be accepted from those dining at the V.F.W. There is a charge for take-out orders. A portion of the profits from the Harvest Fest meal will be donated to the Chamber’s Downtown Beautification project.

There are activities for children at Harvest Fest. They can paint a pumpkin and decorate a cookie. There are also guessing games for kids.

Get a taste of the ERA Cookbook this Saturday. Sample recipes will be available from three of the area’s best cooks. Emmetsburg Retail Association is preparing a cookbook with pre-sales this Saturday. Order a cookbook at a discounted price when also purchasing a Holiday Discount Button. That’s this Saturday only.

The VFW will be the hub of activities this Saturday for Harvest Fest. Everyone is invited to join the crowd for a couple hours of fun.
